• The Swedish government has banned the use of mercury fillings because of their fear of creating a health hazard for the dental patient.

• Dentists in the United States are under strict regulation in the disposal of excess filling material, because our own government scientists have expressed real concern that mercury could leach out of the garbage in waste disposal landfills. (If mercury is poured into a plumbing system, anything living in the sewage system would be contaminated.)
